Introducing… me! Tom Gorrie: Thai Boxer, Coach, and Founder of THS Fight Gear
Hey there! I’m Tom Gorrie – happy and proud amateur Thai boxer, coach, fiancé, son, brother, and now… business owner! Let me take you on the journey of how THS Fight Gear came to life.

My Muay Thai Journey
For around 8 years, I’ve trained in K1 and Muay Thai at various gyms, connecting with amazing fighters, coaches, and like-minded people along the way. The real game-changer in my training journey happened in 2021 after the COVID pandemic. Feeling out of shape and eager to get back into the ring, I joined Poole Thai Academy, coached by my work colleague Don Scoular, a former MMA and Muay Thai fighter.

This marked the first time I fully committed to training three times per week (including weekly sparring sessions) since I started my Muay Thai journey – and I absolutely loved every minute of it!

From Spectator to Fighter
After watching my friend and sparring partner Olaf compete at a major local show in Portsmouth in October 2021, I felt inspired. I immediately signed up for my first fight on the NRG Fight Night show in Poole, Dorset, scheduled for April 2022.

Signing up meant I needed a ring name. I was struggling to come up with something catchy when one day, I walked into the gym and my coach shouted, “Here’s Horror Story Gorrie!” I laughed and thought, “That rolls off the tongue nicely!” – and just like that, my fighting persona was born.

Learning Through Experience
My first two fights didn’t go according to plan, and I faced defeat in both. But my passion for Muay Thai remained unshaken. Instead of giving up, these experiences motivated me to train harder than ever, focusing on improving my knowledge, skills, and fitness over the following years.

The Birth of THS Fight Gear
After years of training and using various brands of clothing and equipment, I gained valuable insights into what makes quality fight gear. I noticed a gap in the market – there weren’t enough options for fighters who were getting serious about their training and wanted to invest in equipment that would last longer than their starter gear, without breaking the bank.

That’s when the idea struck me – why not create my own brand of high-quality fight gear at a reasonable price point? I wanted to provide an affordable option for fighters who were ready to take their training to the next level.

From Concept to Reality
I sketched some rough designs and shared my ideas with experienced fighters I knew. Their enthusiastic feedback encouraged me to dive deeper. I spent months researching what it takes to start a business, reaching out to suppliers for quotes and samples.

About 8 months later, I had successfully kitted out my gym with sponsored club-branded clothing and launched my first range of hand wraps for sale online.

Growing with the Community
The positive feedback from customers has been the driving force behind our growth. It’s pushed the business in an exciting direction and brought us to where we are today. We now offer a comprehensive range of products that not only help beginners kickstart their journey but also provide seasoned fighters with gear that truly stands the test of time.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me in building this business. Your encouragement and feedback have been invaluable, and I’m excited to see where we can take THS Fight Gear in the future.
